Francis Skyrna Exhibition, Ongoing

The theme is ‘Beacons of Hope’.

The tumultuous and moving history of Belarus is told through a series of bespoke exhibition cabinets, glowing within the pitch-dark top floor of the Francis Skaryna Library and Museum in London.

The institute holds the world’s most distinguished collection and archives in the field of Belarusian studies. This important permanent exhibition is situated insidet he loft, where the domestic character of the spaceheightened by the pitch roof and limited floor space of 60m2, has been transformed into an emotive museum environment with lamp black-painted walls. Extremely rare and significant artefacts showcasing Belarus’s unique heritage are on public display for the first time. The cabinets, made of maple-faced ply, were meticulously designed and either left unvarnished or finished with entirely natural oil to avoid chemical reactions with the exhibits.
